Get Your Florida Home Ready for Spring: 5 Springtastic Tips!

Spring has sprung! And in Florida, that means bright, warm sunny days with the occasional rain shower. It’s the perfect time to get your home ready for spring so you can enjoy the many beautiful days outside.

To help you make your home springtastic, we’ve put together a list of 5 things you can do to prep your home. And once you’re done, you’ll be ready to host your first outdoor patio grill-out and margarita party!

Let’s get your home ready for spring!

Check your HVAC

The temps in Florida usually range between the mid-70s to mid-80s during spring. Just warm enough to start using your air conditioning infrequently.

But since Florida’s summers are hot and humid, it’s a good idea to have your HVAC checked out before the hot temps hit and techs get busy.

While you wait for your appointment and to keep your AC running at top efficiency, make sure to…

  • Change your air filter

  • Clean air ducts

  • Remove any debris from around your unit

  • Check for any damage or leaks

Organize your outdoor space & patio

To make your home spring-party ready, it’s time to clean up your outdoor spaces.

Clear out any debris or dead plants that didn’t make it through Florida’s “winter.” Get out your patio furniture and grill from storage if you put it away because you’ve been traveling.

And now’s not a bad time to consider getting some new outdoor furniture and decor to freshen up your space. Or to plant some new flowers and plants to brighten up your backyard.

Inspect your pool and deck

If you have a pool and deck, spring is a good time to have it inspected and cleaned. With the temperatures heating up, you’ll probably be spending a lot of your time soaking in your pool.

You can check your pool for cracks, any damage to your deck, and make sure all of your pool safety equipment is in good working condition (think pool covers and fences). If you notice any issues, contact a professional pool company to come make repairs.

You definitely don’t want a damaged pool keeping you from enjoying the cool waters with your family!

Protect your home from sun damage

The Florida sun is intense. So protect your home – and you! – from sun damage.

You can have UV resistant window film installed to protect your furniture and floors from fading. You may also want to consider sun shades and awnings to create shaded areas outdoors for fun shaded time outside and to keep the sun out of your house.

Prep your home for hurricane season

Hurricane season officially starts June 1. So spring is the perfect time to get your home ready before it gets harder to find supplies or make appointments.

So where do you start? Look at…

  • Trimming back any overgrown trees

  • Removing debris that can become airborne

  • Stocking up on emergency supplies

  • Having tarps on hand in case your roof leaks or is damaged

  • Installing hurricane shutters or impact-resistant window

Is getting your home ready for spring taking all the fun out of the season?
